Seyed Marandi

Seyed Marandi is an Iranian-American academic, political analyst, and professor of English literature and Orientalism at the University of Tehran. Born in Virginia in 1966, he moved to Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, fought in the Iran-Iraq war, and earned a PhD from the University of Birmingham on Orientalism. A frequent presence on BBC, CNN, and Al Jazeera, he advises Iran's nuclear negotiation team and is a prominent English-language defender of the Islamic Republic, drawing both influence and controversy for his state-aligned positions.
