Shakespeare and the devil concern the 270 times that Shakespeare expressly mentions the devil in his works.[1] Shakespeare references Satan only 8 times, and Lucifer only 7 times, both in only his more obscure works. But Shakespeare is copious in his references to the devil.

In Shakespeare's greatest work, Hamlet, Hamlet himself has multiple references to the devil such as this:

May be a devil; and the devil hath power

T' assume a pleasing shape; yea, and perhaps
Out of my weakness and my melancholy,
As he is very potent with such spirits,
Abuses me to damn me. I'll have grounds
More relative than this. The play's the thing
Wherein I'll catch the conscience of the King. Exit.[2]
