Short code

A short code or short number is a sequence of digits primarily used to send automated messages to cell phone subscribers.
In the United States, most are 5-6 digits, but no short code can begin with "1". Smaller 3-digit codes are carrier-specific. A short code which spells out a specific name will, of course, cost more than a randomly assigned number.
