It was bred by native peoples in Siberia, such as Eskimos, as a sled dog, for which it is still used today. It is now becoming very popular in America and Europe as a companion dog.

The Siberian Husky is a medium-large dog, ranging in height from 20 to 24 inches high. It is a beautiful dog with a wolf-like appearance, havng a white coat with either a gray, silver, black or reddish color. Huskies are known for having blue eyes; huskies with one blue and one brown eye (heterochromia) are not uncommon.
