The Silla Dynasty (57 BC - 935 AD) was one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. It was founded by Bak Hyeokgeose.

Silla gained control of the peninsula by outlasting Goguryeo and Baekje. It was very advanced culturally, mostly because of extensive contact with other countries. Silla was one of the first East Asian countries to have contact with Europe, through their trade routes across Siberia. They also had early contact with Japan.
