→Capital punishment: Pope Francis builds on the teachings of John Paul II; the name "Dismas" isn't canon at all; the gospel according to Luke tells that one of them defended Jesus on the cross. Gross misrepresentation to see this as a CP endorsement.

→Capital punishment: 1st Jesus prevented an execution. 2nd The execution of Jesus was a crime mainly committed by the state (i.e. Rome). In no way can Jesus Christ or this violent death serve as a witness ''for'' the death penalty.
