I think that any analysis involving Great Britain at these Games, either to prove or disprove the atheist theory, is problematic because hosts ALWAYS receive a big medal boost. Australia and France by themselves are insufficient to indicate a trend with just this year's data, even with the decreases. We'll have to analyze them again in 2016, along with Great Britain, but should probably throw out this year's data for GB, and factor in that there is an 8 year difference between the two data points we have for them, after 2016.
