The Aswan Dam in Egypt was a project of Gamal Abdel Nassar and the building of it took place from 1960-1970. THe dam would prevent the Nile from flooding and would generate electricity. Nasser seized the Suez Canal in order to raise money for the dam. The Soviet Union also paid gave the Egyptians a great deal of money.
