Ford discontinued the Taurus briefly in 2007.  The last model was purchased by [[American Hero]] [[Truett Cathy]] owner of [[Chick-fil-A]].  But due to popular demand they brought it back later that year.

The SHO (SUPER HIGH OUTPUT) was a high performance model of the Taurus.  It featured a high output V6 (actually built by the motorcycle company Yamaha, but with American engineering help).  For its the original time it was very competitive and could actually beat many imports and rice rockets at a fraction of their cost.  In the 1990s it was replaced by a V8 model which was decent, but not as fast as the original and it didn't have an option for a manual tranny.  A new turbocharged SHO is out now and it is back to form again beating imports for half the cost.
