Why do I always think of the sack of Béziers when this sort of thing comes up? Or the Inquisition? Or the pope who had all the bells in Rome rung in celebration when he heard of the St Bartholemew's Day Massacre? Or Richard I at Acre? Or the various pogroms by whatever name we want to call them.
