A good batsman in the top order (batting at positions 1-6) is normally capable of getting 20-50 runs and possibly 100 or many more. The 'lower order' batsmen in a good team, normally the specialist bowlers, may be able to 'slash' 20 runs on a good day.

It should be noted that some batsmen have the skill to bat right and left-handed. In addition, batting techniques sometimes involve reversing the stroke while the bowler is running in to deliver, by switching position or by bringing the bat to the other side of the body and changing the grip altogether.
