Somerset is a [[county]] in south-west [[England]]. It is the location of [[Glastonbury]], often equated with the Isle of [[Avalon]]. It is most famous for its [[cider]], which is appropriate, as 'Avalon' means 'island of apples'. In 1974 a large chunk of northern Somerset was removed from the county and placed into the county of Avon, but in 1996 Avon was abolished and Somerset got its territory back.
