'''[[Senator]] Saxby Chambliss''', born November 10, 1943 (age {{age|1943|11|10}}), is the senior was a senator from the state of [[Georgia]]. A [[Republican]], he has had been in the Senate since 2002, when he defeated [[Democrat]] [[Max Cleland]] to gain the seat in a controversial race, after which Chambliss was accused of painting his veteran opponent as unpatriotic. His short tenure makes Chambliss part of a very new Georgia delegation, his colleague being was [[Johnny Isakson]], a fellow Republican, and a former colleague when both were in the [[House of Representatives]], as well.

Chambliss was successful in holding off his liberal and democratic Jim Martin, keeping the filibuster in the balance. Saxby Chambliss backs many [[Conservative]] principals, said that he is strictly pro-life, and does not support gay [[homosexual marriage]], and but supports small governmenttax increases, even though earlier in his career he received a reward from [[Grover Norquist]] for taking the opposite position.
