Coolidge left the White House on Mar. 4, 1929, amid the acclaim of the nation.  Returning to Northampton, he published his autobiography and wrote articles for newspapers and periodicals. These and his business activities kept him engaged until his death on Jan. 5, 1933, in the midst of the [[Great Depression]].
