Special relativity is the limiting case of general relativity where all gravitational fields are weak.  Alternatively, special relativity is the limiting case of general relativity when all reference frames are inertial (non-accelerating and without gravity).

== The concept behind Eddington’s experiment is flawed ==

Eddington measured the angle of a deflected light wave off the coast of West Africa during the 1919 eclipse and confirmed Einstein’s theory of relativity. But . . . for a light wave to produce an angle, means the light wave was pulled round to Eddingtons line of sight. Proving the image used in comparison was not the image destined for West Africa, but an image already offset, thus increasing the angle. The error in this experiment is difficult to explain but easy to visualise. To see diagrams explaining the error, click [http://www.jonathangrey.co.uk/emc2-doesnt-compute/ here] and then click on the front cover image and go to page 5 and 6. <ref>[http://www.jonathangrey.co.uk/emc2-doesnt-compute/ E=mc2 Doesn’t Compute] by [http://www.jonathangrey.co.uk/emc2-doesnt-compute/ Jonathan Grey]:</ref>
