:It sounds like the most convincing evidence supports an interpretation of E=mc^2 where 'm' represent a ''change'' in mass corresponding to a ''change'' in energy 'E'. We should explain the formula in these terms. Then, point out the extended interpretation of mass-energy equivalence, with the disclaimer that it is a liberal idea.
