Yeah, that was the image that they put out.  Politics is like that; men in power have to pretend to be on good terms so that others can follow their example.  Tip was a jerk; he believed that if you didn't want to spend all the governemnt's money on useless programs, you were a racist and hated poor people.  I don't think Reagan could have cared less for him, nor him for Reagan.  Their "friendship" was just for the media.
