As far as skill acquisition, a Christian I know came to the United States from Africa and became fluent in English though total immersion in English. He refused to speak his native tongue with his fellow countryman on campus. It worked. He obtained college level English skills within 3 months. ==Completing the square==

You might want to take a look at that article, and weigh in on whether it is "jargon" or otherwise pitched at an inappropriate level.  Perhaps I should have checked with you ''before'' going off the deep end.  I know that you share my interest in making the math articles accessible to the expected audience.  I believe that the topic of solving quadratic equations, and the quadratic formula, and the derivation of same by "completing the square", are completely appropriate.  I also believe that the article covers this topic in a completely straightforward way.  (If they had used Hilbert spaces to prove the quadratic formula, that would have been a different matter!)  Anyway, feel free to put the jargon tag back if you think it should be there.  [[User:SamHB|SamHB]] 13:20, 8 September 2013 (EDT)
