General Santa Ana's 3,000 Mexicans attacked 189 Texans at San Antonio on February 24, 1836.  Within 13 days, nearly all the Texans were dead, including [[Davy Crockett]], [[William Travis]] and [[Jim Bowie]]. The only ones who survived were Susanna Dickenson, her baby, and Travis' [[slave]].  The massacre at the Alamo was memorialized in the cry, "Remember the Alamo!"
