#[[Adam Dunn]] - The [[Chicago White Sox]] signed him to a four-year, $56 million deal (more than team leader [[Paul Konerko]] is paid) in the winter of 2010-2011.  However, he has posted anemic numbers since that time, hitting .159 in 2011 and striking out 222 times in 2012 (with a weak batting average of .204).  As of July 10, he had struck out 103 times in 2013, on track to break the 200-strikeout mark again, and was batting .209.  He hits a lot of home runs--when he is focussed--but this does not make up for his problems in other areas.

#[[Donald Bradman]] - The mainstream media boosted his reputation but he used an unusual batting technique and had difficult relationships with his team-mates. He never truly mastered batting on sticky wickets.

#[[Sachin Tendulkar]] - The lamestream media, especially in India, treat him almost as a god but he went for over a year without scoring a century in international cricket matches and he isn't ranked among the top ten batsmen. Faced tricky questions about avoiding import tax on a Ferrari sports car.

#[[Shane Warne]] - One of the best-ever cricketers according to the [[liberal]] [[BBC]] but his career was one scandal after another: a dope ban, taking money from bookmakers, sleeping around, and more typical liberal behaviour. Never scored a century in a Test Match.
