Pettitte has not yet decided whether he will return to play with the Yankees in 2008 or bring his career to an end. "I'm not real sure what I'm going to do," stated Pettitte. "It's kind of strange, because for sure I didn't expect my arm to respond the way it has this year. That's the whole reason I wanted the option, so I didn't feel obligated if I was hurting this year to come back."<ref>http://fantasybaseball.usatoday.com/content/player.asp?sport=MLB&id=2021</ref>

Pettitte retired from Major League play after the 2013 season.
