'''The Handmaid's Tale''' is a distopian novel by Margaret Atwood set in the near future in which an oppressive authoritarian government has achieved ascendancy over the [[United States of America]]. She apparently intended it to be a fable about a backlash against feminism. It was made into a movie in 1990.
