Hartnell's era introduced the most well-known of the Doctor's foes, the [[Dalek]]s.  This was the first incarnation of the Doctor to be played by two different actors, the second being Richard Hurndall, who played the First Doctor in ''The Five Doctors,'' in 1983, as William Hartnell had died in 1975.
