Runrig are a [[Scottish]] progressive rock band active from the 1970's to the present day. The original lineup were [[Gaelic]] speakers from the [[Hebrides|Hebredean]] Islands of Western Scotland, and are credited with having promoted a cultural revival in Gaelic Music. Stalwarts of the band include songwriting brothers, Calum and Rory McDonald. The current lead singer, [[Canadian]]-born [[Bruce Guthro]] took over from original frontman Donnie Munro who left the band to pursue a career as a [[Labour Party|Labour]] politician. [[Peter Wishart]], keyboard player, also left the band to pursue a political career, and he is now the [[Scottish National Party]] [[MP]] for [[Perth]] and North Perthshire.
