I agree with DanH. Another misused law from the old covenant is the Sabbath law. There are certain groups that insist we must keep the Sabbath to be pleasing to God. These groups teach that you are sinning if you meet on Sunday (1st day of the week) instead of Saturday (7th day). It is true that Saturday is the 7th day and under the old covenant this is the day that Israel was commanded to rest in observance of God creating everything in six days and His resting on the 7th day. We will see that the Sabbath is a shadow of Jesus; the Sabbath required that the people of Israel rest from their work in observance of the work of creation performed by God. It is teaching us to rest in the work of Christ which brings about the new creation of us. This new creation takes place when we are born again or born from above. The true picture is that the Sabbath is not about resting on a day but it is relying on the fact that we rest and have confidence in the work of Jesus for our righteousness and acceptance with our Father. Jesus is the True Sabbath; rest in all that He has accomplished for you, for this is the Sabbath that God intended for you from the beginning. The only alternative to resting in Christ and His work is death; He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; the only access we have to God.
