'''Sirius Black''' is the best friend of James Potter, and godfather of Harry Potter. He is apart of the Black family, a prestigious pure-blood family. When he was sorted into Gryffindor, as opposed to Slytherin, his family distanced themselves from him. As he become more fascinated with the Muggle world, his parents eventually disowned him. When James and Lily Potter were killed by Voldemort, Black found out the Peter Pettigrew had sold them to Voldemort. However, Pettigrew faked his death, and Sirius was arrested, spending 12 years in Azkaban. He eventually broke out, tracked Harry down, and told him what had really happened. When Lord Voldemort returned, he offered his childhood home to Dumbledore as a headquarters for the Order. Sirius was killed by his cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange at the Battle of the Department of Mysteries.
