''Randall Jerome Gay Jr.''' is a [[National Football League]] cornerback for the [[New England Patriots]]. He was born on May 5, 1982 in [[Baton Rouge]], [[Louisiana]]. Randall is "5-11" (tall and weighs 190 pounds.
== NFL Career ==
Randall entered the NFL as a undrafted, unrestricted free agent in 2004. He was invited by the [[New England Patriots]] to compete for a roster spot on the team in training camp and he surprisingly beat out several other players (including one 2004 Patriots draft pick) for a roster spot. Although he was expected to be a backup coming into the season, injures to Patriots starters forced Randall into starting 9 games at either cornerback and safety in the 2004 regular season. In week four of the NFL season in a game vs the [[Miami Dolphins]] he made his first career NFL interception. Two weeks later he made his first NFL start (at safety). On week twelve of the regular season in a game vs the [[Cleveland Browns]], he had his first NFL touchdown when he returned a fumble 41 yards for a score... In total, in 2004, he started 9 and played in 15 games with the Patriots. He had 34 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 2 fumble recovery's. In the 2004 playoffs, Randall started all three playoff contests for the Patriots and made a team leading 18 tackles.
The next season, 2005, Randall managed to only play in 5 games (1 start) before he suffered a ankle injury and was put on the Patriots injury [reserve http://www.patriots.com/games/index.cfm?ac=completereportsdetail&pid=21411&pcid=47&special_section=na] list for the rest of the season. The next year (2006) he didn't play in any games and was put on missed the entire season due to a hamstring injury.
