Changes

A magnificent church built in the fourth century in [[Constantinople]] during the reign of [[Justinian]].  It was originally an early Catholic Church, but was later converted to an Orthodox church after the [[great schism]] of 1054. After the Ottoman conquest of the city it was converted to a mosque. Today the Hagia Sophia is a museum.

The '''Hagia Sophia''' (Greek Aγία Σοφία) is a major landmark in [[Constantinople]]. Though it began as a [[Church]], the building was converted to a [[Mosque]] after the [[Ottoman Empire|Ottoman]] sacking of Constantinople in 1453. Currently, the building serves as a museum.

Along with being a Church, the building served as a meeting place for the Byzantine nobility.
