However, The Continents are still connected; under the ocean is land if you dry up the water. This interpretation of this verse in in error, the separation spoken of here is the waters under the sky (Firmament) and the water out in space (beyond the heavens). Comets prove this theory, as many of them contain ice, and today as much as 1% of terrestrial rain comes from extraterrestrial sources.
