Joshua is the sixth book of the Old Testament, immediately following the Pentateuch. The events take place around 1400 B.C. Joshua is also the name of a Los Angeles based Christian Rock Group centered around guitarist Joshua Perahia that pioneered the sound of Metal/Rock music with Christian lyrics.
It describes the Israelite conquest of Canaan by its eponymous hero and takes place after Moses freed the Hebrews from Egyptian bondage and led them through the wilderness for 40 years. The book ends with Joshua's dividing up the territories between the 12 tribes and his subsequent death.
