She ran for the [[United States Presidential Election, 2008 - Primaries|2008 Democratic presidential candidacy]], winning more primaries than any woman in history. On June 7th, 2008 she conceded defeat to [[Barack Obama]] after a closely challenged campaign, although she did not release her delegates until the convention itself.  

The much ballyhooed presumptive nominee according to her media allies and "inevitable" winner as the [[United States Presidential Election, 2008 - Primaries|2008 Democratic presidential primaries]] approached, Hillary Clinton finished a dismal third in a Democratic field of three in the Iowa Caucuses.<ref>Obama won Iowa with 37.6 percent of the vote; [[John Edwards]] edged out Clinton for second 29.7 - 29.5 percent. </ref> On June 7th, 2008 she conceded defeat to [[Barack Obama]] although she did not release her delegates until the convention itself.
