Malthusianism
Since Thomas Malthus's 1798 work, An Essay on the Principle of Population, liberal intellectuals insisted that the world's population would grow faster than the food supply and result in mass starvation. However, there are examples in both the Old and New Testaments of the food supply increasing to be more far plentiful than expected, mostly due to faith in God's powers and use of conservative economics. Indeed, in modern times obesity is far more prevalent and harmful than hunger worldwide, and food production far exceeds the ability to consume even in impoverished nations. Hunger remains a problem only in places with liberal and/or leftist political systems that impede food distribution or destroy the free market.
