The problem with the creationists arguement against evolution is that they ignore the factor of time. If the earth has been around for 6 billion years, then macro evolution, or the "gain of genetic information" can be witnessed. Examples of this are the dinosaurs, whose bone structures are nearly identical to that of modern day birds, but also very closely related to reptiles. This is explained by geological and reproductive isolation which cause the gradual change into those two different Phyla.
