== Texans Enjoy Free Nighttime Electricity ==
More than fifty retail electric companies including giant TXU Energy are offering customers in Texas a tiered energy plan that couples slightly higher rates during the daytime and free electricity during the night. This is possible because Texas has more wind power than any other state and since the wind blows strongest at night there is an over-abundance of cheap energy. Since most of this energy cannot be shipped out of state it is offered to customers free to encourage them to shift most of their electrical use to off peak times. A shift to off peak electrical use may avoid the possibility of building another costly power plant.
