'''Linda Woolverton''' (born December 19, 1952) was a screenwriter, playwright, and novelist. A feminist, many of her works often tried to push the [[feminism|feminist agenda]]. Notable works of hers include Disney's ''Beauty and the Beast'', ''The Lion King'', ''Maleficent'', and the live action ''Alice in Wonderland'' movies. She had been hired into Disney by then-Chairman [[Jeffrey Katzenberg]] around the time of Beauty and the Beast's development, as he had demanded for a "feminist twist" to the tale.<ref>http://articles.mcall.com/1991-11-22/features/2825583_1_beast-s-castle-fairy-tale-madame-gabrielle </ref> She also has donated to the left-wing group VOICES FOR A SENATE MAJORITY - Democrat Farm Labor in 2008.<ref>http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/contributions/linda-woolverton.asp?cycle=08</ref>
