In recent years, the show has taken a somewhat progressive feminist turn.  In season 8, a character named Missy, played by Michelle Gomez, was introduced.  It's revealed that Missy is actually the Master, marking the first time in the show's history that a Time Lord has regenerated into a Time Lady.  Prior to the casting of Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, it was rumored the Twelfth Doctor may be a woman.  The issue has become somewhat controversial, with show runner Steven Moffat supporting the concept, while former Doctor Who actors, such as Peter Davison, think the Doctor should remain a man.

Doctor Who is predominantly anti-christian and anti-conservative, as well as being a terrible role model for children. One episode, set in World War 2 has the Doctor tell a group of people to look forward to the [[Socialism|Welfare State.]] Another episode contains a kiss between two characters that is both lesbian and bestalic. The same episode has the doctor state there is no afterlife. This is picked up on later when it is revealed that heaven is merely a hoax, with souls being collected by computer. This is done by a woman who was revealed to be the Doctor's enemy the Master, in clear support of transgender politics. One classic series episode called the Happiness Patrol parodied and criticised the [[Conservatives|Conservative]] [[Prime Minister]] [[Margaret Thatcher]]. The show has blatant criticisms of America, due to its nature as a program of the liberally biased BBC. All this, combined with the numerous sexual references have made most true Christians to reject the show for them and their children.
