Changes

The Colt 1911 is a single-action semi-automatic .45 caliber pistol designed by John Moses Browning.  Designs were finalized in the year 1911 (hence its designation) and it was immediately adopted by all branches of the United States Military as a standard sidearm, replacing the various revolvers used at the time.  It was replaced in 1980 (mostly due to political reasons and much to the chagrin of soldiers even today) by the 9mm Beretta M9, ending a tenure of service that saw two World Wars and numerous conflicts in between.  It remains a popular pistol to this day among law enforcement and recreational shooters alike.  It is also a popular option for concealed carry and home defense.
