'''Mykola Hohol''' (1809-1852) was a Ukrainian author who wrote in Russian language. He was born in the village of Sorochyntsi, [[Ukraine]]. His works were heavily influenced by his Ukrainian heritage. His most famous works are [[Dead Souls]], [[The Overcoat]], and his depiction of the [[Ukrainian Kozak|Ukrainian Kozaks]] in [[Taras Bulba]]. He is recognized as one of the greatest [[Russia|Russian]] authors, even though he was not Russian.
