This has become a major problem in the United States, because the number of Mexicans and other foreign born citizens living in the U.S. is growing. Illegal immigrants do not pay taxes and  use many services, such as health care and schools. However, many illegals are afraid to use free services, such as domestic violence shelters, out of fear of deportation.  Many illegals cannot speak English. Some people defend the immigrants, saying that they are simply coming to find work or to escape political oppression, and that they come illegally as legal channels are not open to them. There is also a fear that illegal immigrants do not share the culture and values of the country they enter, or an understanding of its laws, and may ignore those elements which contradict their own - a problem particually serious with muslim immigrents, who have been known to enforce Islamic Law within some regions of London even though this is expressly forbidden by the law of their host country.
