Novella is a prominent [[atheism|atheist]]/skeptic who co-founded the New England Skeptical Society and he serves as their president. The organization's podcast, The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe is popular within the skeptical movement. He also participated in the pro-[[evolution]] campaign called Project Steve and was one of the first 200 people to contribute the project as a signer.
