==Licenses==
Spybot Search & Destroy was previously free to all private uses. While donations are still accepted at any time, a paid private version was released with version 2.0. These paid editions offer more features such as real-time virus protection.
In general, the license categories are as follows:
*There is a free edition, which can be downloaded and used indefinitely without any kind of payment
*Individuals must only pay for Spybot if [https://www.safer-networking.org/private additional features] are wanted. Watch out for [[Spybot Search & Destroy#Fakes and scams|scams]]!
*Businesses must pay for a [https://www.safer-networking.org/business commercial license] as well
==Fakes and scams==
As a well-known security program, people have created fakes which use the same name and logo as Spybot. Such software is available on a variety of websites, some of which use paid advertizing to show up at the top of web searches. Ideally, people should never download Spybot from anywhere other than Safer-Networking.org. If anyone is going to download it from another source, they should make sure it is reliable website.<br />
