Kennedy Townsend grew up the eldest of 11 children. Like a typical Kennedy, Kathleen grew up with all the privileges of money and power. She attended the prestigious Putney School in Vermont and [[Harvard]]. She later graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law and received her J.D. in 1978. <ref>[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathleen_Kennedy_Townsend Kathleen Kennedy Townsend via Wikipedia]</ref><ref>[http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/mdmanual/08conoff/ltgov/former/html/msa12084.html Maryland State Archives: former Lt. Also like many Kennedys, she has experienced her share of tragedies. Oddly enough her name was given to her in honor of her aunt whom she never met named Kathleen Cavendish, who died in a plane crash 1948. Other Kennedys have been in plane crashes as well such as her uncle Senator [[Ted Kennedy]]<ref>[http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=8271369 Edward M.
