I think it is a complex situation. According to world surveys, Germany has a good reputation as far as places to live (like top 15 places to live [http://www.forbes.com/sites/susanadams/2015/07/15/the-worlds-most-reputable-countries-2015/2/#74a0b12832e4]). German industry needs workers. Merkel needs support of German businessman to be elected and campaigns to be funded. German unemployment rate is low. I just think it would be smarter to bring in more Christian immigrants than bring in Muslim immigrants (due to terrorism and other inappropriate behavior such as Cologne incident, etc. This causes increased political dissent).

On the other hand, there is high unemployment rate among the youth in Europe and immigrants from another culture/religion are not wanted by many.

I think things in Europe are going to get worse before they get better. The same situation in the United States. And I think with Christianity growing in Africa/Asia/Latin America that those regions will get better although Christianization of cultures takes time.
