During his first few seasons in the NBA he played primarily as the back-up point guard to [[Jason Kidd]] and [[Kevin Johnson]]. In 1998, Nash was traded to the [[Dallas Mavericks]]. He quickly took the starting spot in Dallas and played there for five years. After his contract was up in 2004, he decided to go back to Phoenix where where he played until the end of the 2011-12 season. Nash signed with the [[Los Angeles Lakers]] for the 2012-13 season, but spent most of the year on the injured list.
