A '''barnacle''' is an invertebrate arthropodic creature which is no longer than five centimeters long. Barnacles are known for their unusual method of finding food - they attach themselves to rocks, [[whale | whales]], or even ships, and stay there for the rest of their lives. They then strain out [[plankton]], catching the plankton with their legs. <ref>http://library.thinkquest.org/J001418/barnacles.html</ref>
