A Ziggurat is a stepped "mountain" with a temple on the top.  Ziggurats look like a truncated pyramid with layers that form steps.  They were first built in [[Mesopotamia]], but are also found in may other parts of the world.  The Native peoples of [[South America]] invented an built ziggurats that are strikingly similar to those of the Middle East, even though the two cultures never communicated with eachother.
