Mario was born in [[Albuquerque]], [[New Mexico]], to a [[cowboy]] Haracio Pargas and Cathleen Lucero. His parents divorced while he was young, and he is the only son of Cathleen, alongside two sisters. He lived with his mother until his grandparents retired, while he was a pre-teen, and from then on he was raised by his grandparents, retired [[trucker]] Joe M. Lucero and Antonia "Toni" Lucero.
