On April 29, 2013 he went on trial for murder in the first degree, charged in the deaths of several babies that, the State alleges, were born alive, and that he made sure would die anyway. Gosnell achieved this by a method he called snipping, where he severed newborns spines with scissors. His clinic was also notably for shockingly substandard health circumstances.
