Port in [[East Yorkshire]], [[England]]. Goole is the furthest inland seaport in the [[United Kingdom]], situated at the junction of the Knottingley & Goole Canal and the [[River Ouse]]. It was founded in 1826 when the canal was opened as a transhipment point between the canal system and the river, navigable by sea-going vessels, and established a trade built largely on the export of coal.
