In the fall of 2016, Lively was sued by [[Sexual Minorities Uganda]]. They claimed that he was responsible for an international “crime against humanity” when he shared his biblical views on homosexuality during three visits to [[Uganda]] in 2002 and 2009. SMUG went so far as to say that Lively’s “crimes” were “one step from genocide.” [[Liberty Counsel]] stepped in to help defend Scott Lively against this outrageous lawsuit.
